How to Find the Trados Plugin Packages Folder
Can't find the Trados Studio plug-in folder? This guide follows RWS deployment paths for locating Packages and Unpacked folders.
1. Default Path
The plug-in package folder is Plugins\Packages, not Packages directly under the version folder. Studio 2024/2022 use %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\18 or 17; Studio 2021/2019 use %APPDATA%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\16 or 15.
2. Quick Navigation with File Explorer
Press Win+R. For Studio 2024/2022, enter %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio. For Studio 2021/2019, enter %APPDATA%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio. Open the version folder, then Plugins\Packages.
3. Clear Unpacked after a Failed Update
If Trados Studio still loads an old version after an update, close Trados Studio and check Plugins\Unpacked under the same version folder. Remove only the unpacked folder for the affected plug-in, not unrelated plug-ins. Keep the new .sdlplugin in Plugins\Packages, then restart Trados Studio.
